This train of thought is more than a tad idealistic, in a Karl Marx sort of way — yet makes some pretty accurate points about where capitalism fails in today’s world. Not that we’d have a feasible alternative at this point that hasn’t already resulted in tremendous disaster throughout recent history. Not that the lack of shortcut-alternatives should prevent us from thinking critically about the current state of affairs.

I see so much critical observation on the nature of today’s economy where so many ‘Traveller. Founder of something nobody’s heard of. Fancy-sounding abstract job title that denotes being paid to dispense business-related opinions.’ types saw reason to be offended. I’m surprised by how hot a topic this turned out to be. And being offended, in general as humans myself included, keeps us from taking in valid points — everything becomes secondary to our feeling insulted.

I’m not saying I personally agree with all the points you’ve made here, on the contrary, our views on the world differ quite a bit— but I’ve enjoyed the perspective the piece has brought to the table, especially where it diverged from my own thinking.
